After a whirlwind 24 years traveling the globe and living abroad in the United States Air Force, I decided to “park chalks”, and retire in Port Charlotte, FL with my husband and two dogs. My husband and I actually fell in love with the area many years ago, and found our forever home here quite accidentally. We are both avid sailors, and Charlotte Harbor is one of the finest sailing locations. But, once we were here, we did do the unthinkable to a sailor and purchase a powerboat as well- it is the best of both worlds!
I originally hail from Wisconsin (Go Packers!), and a small town which is akin to a modern Mayberry. People always looked out for one another, and you could just leave your door unlocked. This sense of community lives here as well. It is a place where everyone helps their neighbor, and takes care of one another. Hence, one of the 8 million reasons why we chose to call Southwest Florida home. Whether it be South Gulf Cove, North Port, Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Englewood, there is a phenomenal sense of community. I work with a great team of real estate agents at Coldwell Banker Sunstar Realty, and it is part of the Schmidt Family. We really are a team, and help each other with our expertise- mine just happens to be waterfront. Because at the end of the day, it is helping our customers find their perfect forever home that is the #1 priority above all else, no matter the requirements, timeline, nor price point. (And boaters, especially sailboaters, don’t just buy a home thinking you can park your boat in the yard- I will map out the depth charts and make sure there are no bridges prior to you even putting a contract on a house!)
